Badger Violins offers a full range of repair and restoration services for violins, violas, cellos, and double basses — from simple string replacements and bow rehairs through to extensive structural restoration work.
To get started, book an appointment to have your instrument assessed by Christine. In most cases you will need to leave the instrument so it can be properly evaluated, after which Christine will contact you with a clear summary of the work required and a quote. A small assessment fee applies, which is credited towards the cost of any repairs carried out.
Bow Rehairs
Christine offers a professional bow rehair service for violin, viola, cello, and double bass bows, with competitive pricing:

Smaller bows (including student sizes): from $65
Bow repairs and full bow restorations are also available. Please allow 1–2 days for rehairs — bows need to be dropped off by close of business to be ready the following day. Spaces are limited each week, so booking ahead is recommended.

Instrument Set Up
A proper set-up makes an enormous difference to how an instrument sounds, feels, and plays. Christine offers professional set-up services for violins, violas, cellos, and double basses — ensuring your instrument is performing at its very best before it leaves the workshop.
New Instrument Commissions
Christine accepts commissions for handmade violins and violas, built to order and tailored to the individual musician.
Each instrument can be crafted in traditional European tonewoods, or — for something truly distinctive — in Australian native timbers, bringing a uniquely local character to a centuries-old tradition.
Scrolls are hand carved to order, from classical designs faithful to the European tradition through to custom carvings including lion's heads and beyond. If you have something specific in mind, Christine is happy to discuss the possibilities.
